Hello,

PLEASE rename this category. I don't want to complain, but want to provide improvement opportunities, enhancement suggestions.

May be make it a concerns than complaints.

I agree with Sathya. When something really worth appreciating is happening I don't want to start complaining.. I would rather make suggestions and help in any way to improve or enhance.. I feel "Concerns" sounds better for this category.

Website looks great.
Is it possible to post the info about the upcoming Kaveri/AKKA hosted 4th convention in Washington D.C.in Sept as this would help Kannadigas who are interested in attending.
We thoroughly enjoyed the last one in Orlando Florida.
Thanks Kalpana

Kalpana Rao,

Thank you for drawing our attention to AKKA Convention.

A link to that event was posted minutes after I received the information on Jan 4th in the Announcements section.

MKANT Committee,

I echo Jayashree's concerns. The boat ride part of the picnic put most of us parents, in an ackward situation in front of our children; some were left standing on the dock waiting and did not understand why they were left out ( good lesson for the little ones i guess, world is not fair always ). I request you NOT to include any activities that excludes anyone from participating in future MKANT programs. Other things in the picnic like food, games etc were good.

Kannada Sangha should facilitate bringing in more people under the association ; it should be a place where kannadigas feel welcome. It belongs to all of us.

As an individual, I am disappointed with the last two events, hope the next ones would be better.

Thanks,
Sudeendra

Dear Sudeendra,

MKANT had made it very clear that boat rentals are available and the arrangements have to be made by individuals on their own. Also, the email had clearly mentioned that MKANT is NOT arranging any boat rentals.

There was a group of Kannadigas who rented a boat for their recreation during the picnic. If anyone else wanted to do the same they could have done it.

MKANT had NOT arranged any activity that excluded anyone. Looks like you have mistaken that MKANT arranged the boat, which is not the case.

We are glad that you liked the food, games and other activities that were organized by MKANT committee.
As you know, we are bringing the kannada movie- Rama Shama Bhama this weekend which is a great hit and also we are bringing a Dr. Rajkumar Tribute program next month. Please come with your family and enjoy these programs. We are sure you will like it.

Thanks
MKANT Committee

The committe can work on the dinner distibution techniques further. At the Members Appreciation Dinner last weekend, the committe members after analyzing the long lines for the dinner and came over repeatedly asked only to "split the line" but never checked the need for the more serving tools and or need for refill dishes. This did
stalled the lines, but went unnoticed by the committee members. The members/volunteers had to be called in to refill.

It was a great idea to have portrait sessions during the evening to raise money for a charitable cause. As it was a friday evening and not many made it at 6 p.m there was some queue to get the picutres. And I was one of the last few in line awiting to be picturized, when one of the commitee member literally stopped the photographer and all of us in line from being picturised.

The time wasted during the fuss was more than sufficent to complete the portraits of all the families awaiting in line.

Only for the reason: the programme had started and we cannot continue portraits. I strongly condemn this act of the committee member and wonder if it is the programme that needed to be pictureized or the family protraits ?

Was standing in line for 15 mins, only awaiting my family to join me and no one informed not to wait. Not sure the commitee members benefit from such enthusiasm killing act.

Resuming the portraint session after dinner is something to me is wasting everyone's time. Photographer, ourselves as the freshness for the portrait would have turned stale. And after such experience ... it may look furious!

It could be communicated in a different manner or someone could have volunteered to call in each families and avoid the standing lines.

Do something DO IT RIGHT. When everything is going smooth, why jump into impose your control ?

Hope such acts can be avoided in future.

Dear Lakshmi,

I can understand completely with the frustration you may have gone through waiting in the line and some committee member coming there and asking the photographer to stop shooting pictures. This is not right to do as an EC member, especially when people are waiting for the photo shoot.
We would like to discuss this in our committee and see why that happened. Could you please identify who that EC member was, so that I can talk with him/her and see what was the reason for such an act.
Thanks

Lakshmi,

Appreciate your candid feedback on the incident. I was responsible for this situation due to time constraints to get Murthy to start taking the program photos, based on our initial planning. As we discussed this further after the program, I would like to tender my sincere apologies for the same. If I had to handle the situation again, I would have done it much better and possibly to your satisfaction.

I agree this could have been handled better with proper announcements and prior notice to all the members, per your contention. I believe we had comminucated to all the members through the general email that the initial photo sessios were planned for 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. It was extended till the program started and was continued after the program ended and post dinner. We could do only so much as the band width for coodination was running thin after a delayed start.

I would like to apologise once again for any inconvenience caused to Lakshmi and few others including Ravi Sharma that were in the line as I had requested Murthy to temporarily stop the photo sessions after the program had started and continued as planned after dinner. Hope the members understand this.

Best Regards,
Raghu Bhardvaj
Sports and Talent Committee Coordinator.

It will be nice if you can specify the timings for the Ugadi get-together.

Ugadi Celebration-2009: Some of us in the Metroplex might not be familiar with the location of 'The Colony High School’. It will be appreciated if the address and timings for this event is displayed on the website.

Thanks,
Poornima
